cronaca, riassumerei velocemente i temi di cui parla il numero 13,
nella quale e’ uscito, a pagina 15, il report dal Hackit2008. L’uscita di
stampa (15.10.2008.) trova il paese (Croazia) in un momento un po’ deprimente, con l’insolita
ondata del crimine violento (leggetene in italiano un testo su Osservatorio sui Balcani e sul Caucaso), piu’ la rivista e la sua redazione hanno
avuto diverse difficolta’ anche di loro. L’editoriale riflette
questo, ma ribadisce con la conclusione di voler essere una ventata

[EN] For completeness, I would
some up the themes treated in the 13th issue, where the
Hackit2008 report hase been published, on page 15. It has gone to print
(15.10.2008.) in a somewhat depressing moment for the country (Croatia), caused by an unusual
wave of violent crime, and the magazine itself has also had various
difficulties. The editorial reflects this, and the response is the
conclusion that it wants to be a breath of optimism in the difficult

[HR] Da upotpunim pricu, sazela
bih ukratko teme kojima se bavio 13. broj, u kojem je izasao, na 15.
stranici, izvjestaj sa Hackit-a 2008. Izlazak iz stampe (15.10.2008.) nalazi drzavu (Hrvatska) u
jednom pomalo deprimirajucem trenutku, zbog neuobicajenog vala
nasilnih zlocina (citajte o tome na hrvatskom clanak na portalu Osservatorio sui Balcani e sul Caucaso), a osim toga i sam casopis je imao razlicitih
poteskoca. Urednicin uvodnik odrazava ovo, ali odgovara zakljucivsi
da zele biti “dasak optimizma u teskoj svakodnevnici”. U sadrzaju

… una
divertente top 101 di siti web di vario genere, notizie sulle fonti
rinnovabili di energia, il rapporto che con la scienza hanno John
McCain e Sarah Palin, un resoconto dalla conferenza mondiale del
giornalismo investigativo, la spiegazione della economia
comportamentale (lavoro scientifico citato, pdf*), il racconto del viaggio attraverso gli Stati Uniti
su una moto Harley-Davidson, interviste con il sceneggiatore Charlie
Kaufman, Ivo Balenovic aka Alen Bovic scrittore-ginecologo e con la
giovane designer e artista Lina Kovacevic (vedete il profilo sul sito dell’Art Directors Club). Lei ha fatto dei lavori molto
interessanti, come il poster “vuoto” per il Human Rights
Festival, sul quale i passanti erano invitati di aggiungere quello
che credevano, inteso come una specie d’indicatore dello stato della
democrazia (+info nel sito gia’ citato e qui).

McCain’s and Sarah Palin’s treatment of science, a report from the
Global Investigative Journalism Conference, an explanation of
behavioural economy (a cited scientific study, pdf*), a trip across the United States of America on a
Harley-Davidson motorcycle, interviews with the script writer Charlie
Kaufman, Ivo Balenovic aka Alen Bovic writer-gynecologist and a young
designer and artist Lina Kovacevic (see the profile on the Art Directors Club site). She has created some very interesting work,
such as the “empty” poster for the Human Rights Festival, to
which the passers by were invited to add what they desire, so it
became a sort of an indicator of the state of democracy (+info on the ADC site and also here).

Sjedinjenih Americkih Drzava na motoru Harley-Davidson, intervjui sa

Kaufmanom, Ivom Balenovicem a.k.a. Alenom
Bovicem piscem-ginekologom, i mladom dizajnericom i umjetnicom Linom Kovacevic(vidite profil na the Art Directors Club site-u).
Njeni su neki zanimljivi radovi, kao i “prazni” plakat za Human
Rights Festival, na koji su prolaznici bili pozvani dodati ono sto
zele, tako da postaje na neki nacin lakmus papir demokracije (+info na ADC site-u i ovdje).

anche il report dal incontro dei smanettoni, un testo sulla presenza
di David Icke al Ekofestival, un bellissimo diario di viaggio dal
Laos, varie “columns” tra le quali una, firmata da Vedran
Kukavica, che con un tono ironico spiega la crisi economica
attraverso John Kenneth Galbraith, le nonnine che investono in borsa,
l’Islanda, i “poveri ricchi”, e usa come paradigma il film
“American beauty” per cercare di capire come si e’ passato
dall’era Clinton al 2008. C’e’ anche Zagreb Film Festival, e qualche
pagina dopo il testo di Teo Tarabaric intitolato “Beam me back,
Scotty”. L’esperto della cultura pop, immaginari televisivi ecc., e
una delle star della rivista Nomad che usciva anni fa e di cui vi
scrivero’ in un’altro post, si occupa questa volta della presenza
della cronaca nera, raccontando l’inizio della sua giornata quando
trova con il caffe’ matutino i portali pieni della stessa. Aggiunge
anche una riflessione sulla trasmissione televisiva Operacija Trijumf, la variante post-ex-Yugoslava del format Star Academy (en.wikipedia). Dopo
un’analisi concisa dei pregi e difetti della realizzazione effettiva
dello show, conclude che comunque questo tornare a ballare e cantare
insieme e’ un segno che “questi tempi, bui e maniaci, stanno,
comunque, passando. Che gia’ di per se e’ un trionfo.” Un altro
notevole autore di Nomad, Tonci Kozul (vedi Ruralna Gorila blog), fa un’altra dettagliata e
intelligente analisi del immaginario pop e musicale, in grado di
intrigare, come al solito, anche coloro che non condividono i suoi
gusti in materia.
[EN] We also find the
Hackmeeting report, a text about the participation of David Icle at
the Ekofestival, a wonderful travel diary from Laos, various columns
including the one by Vedran Kukavica, who explains the economic
crisis in an ironic tone, from John Kenneth Galbraith, to a granny
investing in the stock exchange, Iceland, “the poor rich”, and
uses the movie “American beauty” as a paradigm to explain the
Clinton era and the passage towards today. There is also the Zagreb Film Festival, and some pages later a text by Teo Tarabaric entitled
“Beam me back, Scotty”. This expert in pop culture and the TV
imaginary etc., one of the stars of the magazine Nomad which was
issued some years ago and which I intend to write about in another
post. It treats the subject of the crime news section, narrating the
experience of finding, at the start of his day, while sipping the
morning coffee, too much of it on the portals he follows. He adds a
reflection about the tv show Operacija Trijumf, the
post-ex-Yugoslavia variant of the Star Academy format (en.wikipedia). A concise
analysis of the productions better and worse aspects is followed by a
conclusion that this return to singing and dancing together is
however a sign that “these dark, manic times are, however, passing.
And that is a triumph in itself.” Another notable Nomad’s author,
Tonci Kozul (take a look at the Ruralna Gorila blog), offers another detailed and intelligent analysis of the
pop and musical imaginary, which is capable, yet again, of intriguing
even who does not share his tastes in the matter.
[HR] Nalazimo i izvjestaj sa
sastanka hackera, tekst o sudjelovanju Davida Ickea na Ekofestivalu,
predivni putopis sa puta po Laosu, razne kolumne medju kojima jednu
Vedrana Kukavice, koja ironicnim tonom objasnjava ekonomsku krizu, od
Johna Kennetha Galbraitha, bakica koje ulazu u burzu, Islanda,
“siromasnih bogatih”, i uza kao paradigmu film “American beauty”, u pokusaju da objasni eru Clinton te prijelaz od toga do
danasnje situacije. Tu je i Zagreb Film Festival, a koju stranicu
poslije i tekst Tea Tarabarica sa naslovom “Beam me back, Scotty”.
Taj strucnjak za pop kulturu, televizijski imaginarij itd., te jedna
od zvijezda caopisa Nomad koji je izlazio prije nesto godina i o
kojem cu pisati u nekom drugom postu, bavi se ovaj put prisutnoscu
crne, pricajuci iskustvo pronalazenja, uz jutarnju kavu, previse
doticne na raznim portalima. Dodaje i razmatranje o televizijskoj
emisiji Operacija Trijumf, post-ex-jugoslavenskom izdanju formata
Star Academy (en.wikipedia). Nakon koncizne analize dobrih i losih strana konkretne
izvedbe te emisije, zakljucuje kako je ipak taj povratak zajednickom
pjevanju i plesanju znak da “ova mracna, manicna vremena ipak
prolaze. A to je trijumf vec samo po sebi.” Drugi itaknuti
Nomadovac, Tonci Kozul (vidi Ruralna Gorila blog), nam nudi jos jednu detaljnu i inteligentnu
analizu pop i muzickog imaginarija, koja moze, kao i inace,
zaintrigirati i one koji ne dijele njegov ukus po tim pitanjima.
